Police have issued a dispersal order in Melbourne following an increase in reports of anti-social behaviour.

The Section 34 order came into force at 16:00 BST on Friday and will remain in place until 16:00 on Sunday, covering the area around the centre of the town.

The order gives officers the power to direct groups of two or more people to leave the designated area if they are involved in anti-social behaviour, or if police believe they are likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to others.

Officers said the measure had been introduced in response to growing concerns from residents about nuisance behaviour in the area.

Derbyshire Police has urged residents to contact the force about any anti-social activity they encounter.
