England World Cup fan zone moved indoors to Beau Sejour after Crown Pier plans dropped

An England World Cup fan zone planned for Guernsey will now take place indoors at Beau Sejour Leisure Centre after the original Crown Pier screening could not go ahead.

Guernsey Police said it was unable to support the outdoor event on Wednesday due to the short planning timescale and available resources, while Guernsey Ports raised concerns about its impact on visiting yacht crews.

The event will now be held in the Sir John Loveridge Hall, with doors opening at 17:30 BST ahead of England's World Cup semi-final against Argentina which kicks off at 20:00.

Organiser Alex Lock said he and the team had worked through the night to find a new venue for the event.

Lock said: "When it became clear that Crown Pier could not proceed, cancelling the event would have been the easiest option, but we did not want to let everyone down."

He went on to say [he] "would love the opportunity to work with Beau Sejour on more events in the future, but that will depend in part on Wednesday's event being delivered safely and responsibly."

Existing Crown Pier tickets are no longer valid, with previous ticket holders given priority access to new tickets from 17:30 BST on Tuesday and remaining tickets released at 18:00.
