Music from Rangle Sardar and The Bollywood Bratpack show are part of a theatre's celebrations for South Asian Heritage Month.

Wolverhampton Grand Theatre said it had joined with Jaivant Patel Company for a "vibrant programme" during July which celebrates "the rich heritage, creativity and contributions of South Asian communities".

It includes an evening with vocalist Bhavik Haria on 18 July, a versatile artist who "breathes life into a variety of musical traditions", the theatre said.

Earlier that day, events for the national month include a Bhangra fitness class and a Bhangra tots pirate adventure, featuring dance and storytelling with Sohan Kailey.

"We invite everyone to join us in celebrating the stories that enrich our stage, our city and our shared future," said a theatre spokesperson.

On Friday 17 July, the theatre will hold a Bollywood and Bhangra Memory Cafe for people affected by dementia.

The venue's established memory cafe will be featuring Indian music and dance, including Bhangra, Bollywood and golden-era cinema hits for people to dance to and join in with, said organisers.

Rangle Sardar is performing at the theatre in the city centre in Lichfield Street on 4 July as part of their first UK tour.

Formed in the heart of Punjab, they are led by four distinctive vocalists, backed by a full band, said theatre staff.

The following Saturday, The Bollywood Bratpack takes the stage with vocalist Chirag Rao bringing together "iconic Hindi film songs with the sound and spirit of classic swing".
