Residents warned about series of tip closures
Oxfordshire County CouncilResidents have been warned about a series of tip closures which are set to hit a county in May and June.
Oxfordshire County Council said it will close six of its household waste recycling centres (HWRC) in rotation to allow for deep cleaning and essential maintenance.
The sites at Wallingford, Banbury, Bicester, Faringdon, Abingdon and Stanton Harcourt will each shut for two weekdays - but will they will not be closed at the same time.
Redbridge HWRC in Oxford due to close for around three months in the summer for essential safety work and will have a deep clean later in the year.
The closing dates are:
- Oakley Wood, near Wallingford: Thursday 7 and Friday 8 May
- Alkerton, near Banbury: Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 May
- Ardley, near Bicester: Thursday 14 and Friday 15 May
- Stanford in the Vale, near Faringdon: Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 May
- Drayton, near Abingdon: Thursday 21 and Friday 22 May
- Dix Pit, Stanton Harcourt: Tuesday 2 and Wednesday 3 June.
The council reminded tip users that they need to book a slot when they wish to use the tip.
No booking slots will be available for those affected sites on the dates they are closed but the council offers information about alternative centres.
