A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash in which an 18-year-old motorcyclist died, police said.

Kent Police said the incident happened on Chestfield Road near the Chestfield Barn pub in Whitstable shortly before 20:15 BST on Friday.

The motorcyclist died at the scene following a crash with a white Mercedes A180. Police said a man who had been travelling in the car then rode the motorbike, which has not yet been recovered, away from the area.

At about 21:50, an 18-year-old man went to Canterbury Police Station voluntarily and was arrested in connection with the incident, police added.

As of Saturday afternoon, he remained in custody, police said.
