Driver, 15, arrested after Land Rover pursuit
Getty ImagesA 15-year-old boy has been arrested, after a Land Rover with balaclava-clad occupants was stopped by police in Doncaster.
The vehicle was being driven erratically in the Adwick area with a suspected underage driver earlier this month, the force said.
After it refused to stop for officers, tactical contact was made with a police car to bring it to a stop.
The teenage driver, who was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop and driving without insurance or a licence, has been bailed pending further enquiries.
He was also arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon after a bladed article was found in the boot of the Land Rover during a search of the vehicle.
According to police, the Land Rover reached speeds of 67mph in a 40mph zone and 50mph in a 30pmh zone.
The driver was also spotted pulling out in front of members of the public at junctions, weaving through traffic and driving head-on towards police officers.
Sgt James Shirley said: "Our officers worked as a team to quickly and professionally bring this pursuit to a safe conclusion and to prevent any harm coming to members of the public.
"The manner in which this vehicle was being driven posed a clear and immediate risk to the public, and the consequences could have been far more serious.
"Thankfully on this occasion no one was injured, but next time this could have been a different story."
