Drivers face six weeks of city ring road delays

Lane closures and other temporary traffic restrictions are set to take place on Wolverhampton's ring road for nearly six weeks.

It is part of work by National Grid to improve infrastructure and will take place in phases on sections of Ring Road St Patrick's and Ring Road St David's, said the city council.

The measures from Tuesday until Sunday 4 October include occasional road closures affecting traffic through the Broad Street junction.

The authority added it "will be monitoring the impact of National Grid's work to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum".

"While these works are essential to support and maintain critical infrastructure, we understand roadworks can be frustrating, particularly on key routes around the city," said councillor Bhupinder Gakhal, cabinet member for city transport.

Motorists were advised to plan ahead, with the council giving details of when work was expected to take place.
