A man is to stand trial charged with causing the death of a pedestrian in Aberdeen.

Thomas Pates, 68, died in hospital after the collision with a car on the city's Seafield Road on 6 March 2024.

Taaneer Niazi, 21, denied a charge of causing death by dangerous driving at the High Court in Glasgow. It is alleged he was going at excessive speed and failed to react to the man ahead of him.

The case is scheduled to begin in Aberdeen in August next year.
