Man, 80, pleads not guilty to murdering wife

An 80-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to murdering his wife at their home.

Officers had been called by paramedics to an address in Junction Road, Ashford, shortly after 14:00 BST on 22 May, following the unexpected death of Jill Ellis, 78, Surrey Police previously said.

Her husband David Ellis was then charged with murder on 30 June.

He denied the charge at Guildford Crown Court on Monday and is scheduled to stand trial there in January.
