Dates of final phase for roadworks scheme set
Westmorland and Furness CouncilDates have been set for the final phase of a large roadworks scheme.
Westmorland and Furness Council's project, which has run since June, involves repairing a culvert and drainage issues on the A684 between Sedbergh and Garsdale Head in South Cumbria.
A full closure of a section of the A684 will go ahead from 26 October to 13 November to replace Potgill Holme cattle grid, with traffic being diverted via the B6259 at Kirkby Stephen, A685 at Tebay, A683 at Sedbergh and A684 at Garsdale.
The council said the third set of repairs which involved the reconstruction of Bellow Hill Culvert was progressing well and was due to finish on 16 October.
The council said the diversion, which would remain in place at all times, was not suitable for vehicles exceeding 14ft 6in (4.4m) height.
Additional restrictions would be enforced on adjacent roads to "prevent rat running away" from the official diversion route, the authority said.
