Driver 'seriously injured' in six-vehicle crash

The crash on the A66 involved two coaches, a van and three cars

A coach driver had to be airlifted to hospital with "serious injuries" after a six-vehicle crash on the A66.

The crash happened near the Brigham turnoff on the A66 at 10:57 BST and involved two coaches, a van and three cars.

The driver of one of the coaches was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital by helicopter, Cumbria Police said.

The A66 is closed in both directions between the A595 and the A5086 and crash investigators are at the scene.

Police asked witnesses or anyone with footage to get in touch.
