Third dragon could be landing at Lincoln Castle
Getty ImagesA third dragon could be landing at Lincoln Castle to live alongside Lucy and Norman.
The current scaly sculptures, which appear to be bursting out of the castle's walls, have been entertaining visitors with smoke and sounds since Lucy arrived in 2022, with Norman arriving a year later.
The new creature would be bigger than the other two, with its head and wings bursting out of the roof of the Heritage Skills Centre, according to Lincolnshire County Council plans.
It would live at the castle from autumn until January 2028, subject to approval from the council's planning department.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the architecture of the castle and Lincoln Crown Court would not be damaged or altered in any way.
Lucy is named after Lucy Tower, once the constable of the castle's living quarters, and a burial ground in the early 19th Century.
Norman is likely named after the Norman invaders who built the castle in 1068 to control the region, building on the site of a previous Roman fortress.
"This third sculpture will further enrich the narrative of the castle, joining Lucy and Norman in captivating visitors' imagination and enhancing their experience," planning documents stated.
The dragons are free to view in the castle grounds apart from during event days.
