Person arrested as police attend 'stabbing incident'

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) are currently at the scene of a "stabbing incident" in south Belfast.

There is a large police presence in the Fitzroy Avenue area, appearing to show specialist officers at the scene with a section of road taped off.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said it received a 999 call at about 19:28 BST and a rapid response paramedic and ambulance crew attended the scene. Following initial assessment and treatment at the scene, one person was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital.

One person has been arrested, police said.

The PSNI have said an update will follow in due course.
