A branch of the Jeremy Corbyn-led Your Party has opened in Hull.

The new left-wing political party was founded by Corbyn and Zarah Sultana in 2025.

The party said it had opened 50 local branches. A further 50 are planned, it said.

George McManus, chairman of the Hull and East Yorkshire branch, said there was a "great turn out" and a "very lively discussion" at the launch, which was held at the Tiger's Lair Social Club on Saturday.

McManus, who is from Hornsea, said the party wanted to connect with communities.

"We believe that when people come together we can influence the decision-makers to help build a better Britain," he said.

At the meeting, McManus said they discussed the housing crisis, community engagement and trades unions. The group will meet once a month.

McManus said the party had close to 500 members across East Yorkshire.

He said: "Having a base in Hull in East Yorkshire means that we'll have a structure so that people that want to get involved in local campaigns, whether it's Bridlington Hospital, whether it's demand for housing in Hull, or whether it's transport needs of people in Goole and Beverley, that they know that they can get involved at that local level."

The party said it wants to be rooted in communities and social movements.

It said it wanted to see "a mass redistribution of wealth and power".
