Work to begin to transform children's play parks
Getty ImagesWork is to begin on three children's play parks in Worcester, which will be transformed with more than £330,000 of investment.
Horizon Hub, Ronkswood Hub and Medway Road will all undergo changes following a consultation with residents earlier this year.
Work at Ronkswood will begin on 26 May, and Horizon at the start of June, which are set to be completed by 17 July, in time for the school summer holidays.
Medway's work will start in July, and is due to be finished in early August, Worcester City Council said.
At Ronkswood, new features will include a fairytale area for storytelling and a stage for toddlers, as well as additional seating, a roundabout, seesaw and chalkboard.
Existing equipment for older children, like the zip wire, will be refurbished.
There will also be a new swing area, climbing blocks, stepping posts, somersault bars and an inclusive net hammock.
Bark and log edging at the site will be replaced with a safer soft play surface, the council added.
Horizon Hub will see the play area extended down the grass embankment to Stanley Road, as well as a new pedestrian entrance.
The new area will include a double-width slide, scramble net and wildflower garden.
The existing toddler and junior climbing frames and the youth shelter, will be retained, while equipment like a ground-level trampoline, see-saw, and basket swing will be added.
Meanwhile, the Medway Road play area will be given a new coastal-themed design, with a ship for children to climb and play on.
Monkey bars, an accessible slide, interactive play panels and inclusive seating areas will also be added.
There will also be a separate enclosed area for young children, featuring a wheelchair-accessible roundabout, ground-level trampoline, and additional seating.
