Police said the man had been pressuring people into selling their valuables to him

Police have warned islanders about an "aggressive" man who is knocking on doors and asking if the occupants have jewellery and gold to sell.

Guernsey Police said the man had been pressuring people to sell valuables to him when he turned up unannounced at their houses.

They said: "We would strongly advise islanders not to engage with people like this, and not to feel pressured into either paying them for a service or to sell them your possessions."

Officers encouraged anyone feeling threatened to contact them and they asked anyone with information about the man to come forward.
