A9 reopens after Tesco delivery lorry bursts into flames
BBCThe A9 has reopened after emergency crews were called to a Tesco delivery lorry which had burst into flames.
The road was shut in both directions following the incident south of Dunkeld, in Perth and Kinross, at about 06:21.
Three fire engines were called to the scene and diversions put in place, but no-one was reported to be injured.
Police Scotland confirmed the road had reopened to all vehicles at about 17:40, following an 11-hour closure.
Images from the scene showed a large plume of thick, black smoke rising from the vehicle, which was engulfed in flames.
The burnt out remains of the lorry, which had the supermarket's branding on the side, were later seen in aerial images.
Others told how fellow drivers rushed towards the lorry to check that the driver had made it out of the cab.
One told BBC Scotland News he had "got out ok".
Eyewitnesses described the flames as "the highest they had ever seen".
