Three men have been arrested after a grandmother was killed in a motorbike crash while crossing the road with her grandchild.

The pair were crossing Ennerdale Road in Cleator Moor at about 16:45 BST on Tuesday when they were hit by the vehicle, Cumbria Police said.

The woman in her 70s died at the scene and the child was taken to hospital with a serious head injury, where they remain in a stable condition.

The men, all aged in their 20s and from West Cumbria, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remain in custody.

Cumbria Police said the bike was believed to be in convoy with two quad bikes leading up to the crash.
