Summer fireworks set to light up resort
Getty ImagesThe return of summer evening firework displays is set to boost the local economy, a council has said.
The free seafront displays, set to music, will take place off Bournemouth Pier on Fridays and Poole Quay on Thursdays from late July.
They have been partially funded by Bournemouth Coastal Business Improvement District (BID) in an attempt to encourage longer stays and generate additional spending for businesses in the resorts.
Richard Herrett, portfolio holder for destination, leisure and commercial operations at BCP Council said the events create a "vibrant atmosphere" for residents and visitors.

"I encourage everyone to come along, make the most of the vibrant atmosphere and take time to explore and support our excellent hospitality venues before enjoying a fantastic display," he said.
The displays have become a popular summer tradition. The fireworks are choreographed to music and can be seen along the coastline.
Bournemouth Coastal BID - funded by accommodation providers and other traders - aims to raise the profile of the area and support the local business community.
The group's head, Fiona McArthur, said: "Feedback from local hoteliers and hospitality venues consistently highlight the fireworks as one of the attractions that visitors value most during the summer.
"By helping to fund the fireworks we are helping to enhance the visitor experience, encourage longer stays and generate additional spending for businesses."
