Road closed while authorities respond to gas leak
GoogleA main road is expected to remain closed all day while emergency services deal with a gas leak caused by a damaged pipe.
Wiltshire Police said it was supporting partner agencies with the leak at Winsley Hill, near Limpley Stoke in Wiltshire.
Winsley Hill is currently closed between the Warminster Road/B3108 Lower Stoke junction and the other side of the hill near Winsley.
Police said there was no risk to the public following an assessment by the fire service.
Wales & West Utilities engineers attended the scene and found a third party working in the area had damaged a gas pipe underneath the road.
Operations manager for Wiltshire Jordan Seek said: "Our engineers worked as safely and as quickly as possible and have made the area safe."
He said he did not know how long it would be before the road could reopen but that engineers were "working as quickly as possible to repair the damage".
There had been no impact on local gas supplies, he said.
