Arrests made after three people attacked in park
BBCTwo people have been arrested and police patrols increased after three people were attacked in a park, police say.
Avon and Somerset Police said it was called to Apex Leisure and Wildlife Park in Burnham-on-Sea in Somerset at 06:15 BST by ambulance crews who were treating someone with a serious laceration to the wrist.
When officers arrived they found two more people with injuries. All three have now been taken to hospital.
The force said that after enquiries at the scene and a review of CCTV footage, a 30-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.
Only the first victim's injuries are thought to be potentially life-changing, police said.
Neighbourhood Ch Insp Becky Wells-Cole said: "We understand this will be a very distressing scene for some people but we would like to reassure you that we believe this is an isolated incident and the individuals are all known to each other.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the incident and residents can expect to see a heightened police presence in and around Apex Park, as well as in Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge."
She added: "If anyone has any concerns, I do encourage you to speak to your local neighbourhood police officer as they can provide reassurance."
