Islanders invited to take part in sea challenge
Rocq Capital / Les Bourgs HospiceIslanders have been invited to take part in an annual sea challenge to help raise money for charity.
Les Bourgs Hospice is encouraging swimmers to get in the sea more throughout July by taking on one of three 30 Bays in 30 Days challenges.
They include the classic 30 Bays in 30 Days challenge, the 15 Bays in 30 Days option, or Nine Bays in 30 Days - a family-friendly route with easy-access beaches.
Participants are asked to complete 30 strokes at each chosen bay between 1 and 30 July, in any order, and at any pace. This year's event begins with a community swim at Vazon at 18:30 BST on 1 July, where islanders can also register in person.
Event founder Liz Stonebridge said the challenge was created in memory of loved ones cared for at Les Bourgs and continued to "bring people together in a really special way".
"Even if people have completed the challenge before, every swim is different depending on tides, time of day or who they are swimming with," she said.
Stonebridge added: "Every sign-up helps to provide free hospice care which makes such a difference to island families."
Swimmers are encouraged to pledge in donations or sponsorship to help support the hospice's free, specialist, palliative care.
