Two quizzed after bomb squad destroys 'explosives'
BBC/Sam HotsonTwo people have been arrested on suspicion of manufacturing ammunition without a licence following a bomb squad operation at a house.
The men, aged 71 and 46, were held on Tuesday during a search of the property on Robert Terrace in Shield Row, Stanley, Durham Police said.
Detectives said "potentially explosive substances", believed to have been used to make homemade fireworks, were recovered from the property and destroyed by members of a bomb disposal unit.
The pair remain in custody while an investigation continues.
