A number of residents across Devon and Cornwall have been listed in King Charles' Birthday Honours

Seven people from Cornwall and 17 from Devon have been named in the King's Birthday Honours 2026.

A total of six OBEs were awarded across Devon, along with five MBEs, five BEMs and one CBE.

In Cornwall, three MBEs and three BEMs were given, along with one OBE.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the dedication of those recognised "shows how lasting change is built - through compassion, resilience and a commitment to others".

Ian David Piper from Honiton was the only person in Devon and Cornwall to receive a CBE, recognised for his services to housing and regeneration.

Multi award-winning TV and film director Beryl Richards from Falmouth meanwhile was recognised for her services to Children's Television with an MBE.

Richards, who focuses on stories from marginalised communities, has won five BAFTA awards, an RTS Award, and four International Emmy nominations for popular UK teens and kids' series throughout her career.

Other recipients in the South West include founder of the Shaldon Wildlife Trust Stewart William Muir (MBE), recognized for his services to wildlife conservation; Hannah May Sloggett from Plymouth (BEM) for her charitable services at Nudge Community Builders; Assistant Chief Officer Alexis Mary Poole of Devon and Cornwall Police (OBE) for her services to policing and Mari Eggins of Carefree Cornwall for her services to Young People.

Sir Keir Starmer said of this year's list: "Across the UK, people are quietly changing lives and strengthening their communities. This Honours List is a chance to recognise them."

He added: "It speaks to the decent, hopeful country we are proud to be, and on behalf of the whole nation, I want to say thank you."

A total of 1,182 recipients were awarded across the UK for their exceptional achievements, with a particular focus on recognising community change-makers.

Recipients from the South West made up 7% of the total number of recipients receiving honours this year.

Among the list were dedicated foster carers, role models in women's sports, committed health workers, champions of the arts, and devotion to public service.
