Two held in attack investigation released unconditionally

Two people arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary with intent to commit grievous bodily harm, after the death of a man in east Belfast, have now been released unconditionally.

Nicholas Gordon, 51, known as Nicky, was attacked when a number of intruders entered an apartment building on the Holywood Road in the early morning of 12 May. He was taken to hospital, but later died from his injuries.

A man, 24, and a woman, 49, arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary with intent to commit grievous bodily harm were later released on bail.

Two men, aged 25 and 31, arrested in Scotland on suspicion of murder on Monday, will "be returned to Northern Ireland for questioning today", police said.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said their enquiries are continuing, and have asked anyone with information to contact them.
