Two police officers were injured after a driver crashed a car into a stationary vehicle while fleeing police in South Lanarkshire.

Police said the man attempted to drive off from Fleming Way in Hamilton after being stopped at about 09:30 on Tuesday, injuring one of the officers in the process.

The car then struck another vehicle, which was not moving, injuring a second officer and a 22-year-old male passenger.

Officers later traced the 18-year-old driver after he fled the scene, before he was taken to hospital as a precaution and arrested.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said the street would remain closed to allow an initial investigation to be carried out.
