The rain did little to dampen the carnival spirit

Young masqueraders, dancers and community groups filled the streets of west London on family day at Notting Hill Carnival.

The Children's Day Parade saw performers in elaborate costumes make their way along the carnival route as the event celebrates its 60th anniversary.

Family Day is traditionally a chance for younger participants to take centre stage ahead of the carnival's main day on Monday, while celebrating its Caribbean roots and community spirit.

Here are some pictures from the day's celebrations.
