Penalties for anti-social activity at park and ride
South Cambs District CouncilPeople can now be fined as part of a new measure introduced to tackle "reckless driving" and anti-social behaviour at a park and ride, a council said.
A public space protection order (PSPO) has been imposed on Babraham Park and Ride in Cambridge after South Cambridgeshire District Council and Cambridge City Council received 22 complaints over anti-social activity between April 2024 and January this year.
The councils said 88% of 160 people who took part in a public consultation voted in favour of introducing tougher measures, including a PSPO.
Council officers were able to approve the notice after PSPOs were made easier to implement by both authorities in November 2025.

Automatic number plate recognition cameras and CCTV have also been installed by the councils and will be used to enforce the order.
PSPOs give councils the power to issue fines and offenders can be prosecuted in court.
Issues reported during the council's consultation included organised car meets, speeding, racing, loud music and stunts, the authorities said.
One consultation response was made by Sharon Allen, chief executive of Arthur Rank Hospice, which is located next door to the park and ride.
"Many of our patients are facing the end of their life, others are staying for pain and symptom control.
"They need a peaceful environment which is disturbed by this anti-social behaviour causing distress and anxiety for the patients and for their loved ones," Allen said.
A similar order was introduced at Milton Park and Ride, north of the city, last year after anti-social behaviour.
Laurence Damary-Homan, the lead cabinet member for environment at South Cambridgeshire District Council, said: "The levels of disruption we've seen at Babraham Park and Ride are completely unacceptable, and action is needed. "
Mike Todd-Jones, Cambridge City Council's cabinet member for communities, added: "Residents deserve to feel safe and respected in their own neighbourhoods."
