In pictures: Motorhome and wine coaster among items embezzled by Murrell
COPFSThe Crown Office has released images of some of the items police seized from former SNP chief executive Peter Murrell.
Among them is a £125,000 motorhome which was taken from his mother's home in Dunfermline after only being driven four miles, as well as a robotic lawnmower and an ornate wine coaster.
Murrell appeared at the High Court in Edinburgh on Tuesday for a hearing in which details of how he tried to cover up his crimes with false invoices were read out.
The estranged husband of former first Minister Nicola Sturgeon admitted embezzling £400,000 from the party over a 12-year period. He is due to be sentenced on 23 June.
COPFSProsecutor Alan Cameron KC told the court Murrell had the motorhome, worth £124,500 delivered to the Halbeath Industrial Estate on 22 January, 2021.
It was then driven by him to his mother's home in Dunfermline where it remained until it was seized by police officers on 5 April, 2023.
The lawyer said: "When seized, the odometer showed that the vehicle had only ever been driven for four miles."
Murrell made three separate payments as a deposit for the vehicle with his SNP charge card, and the balance was paid in four direct transfers from the SNP bank account.
Murrell created a false invoice in the name of the motorhome dealer, with the customer address listed as the SNP headquarters, rather than his home address, which was what he had provided to the dealer.
COPFSA number of other items mentioned in the schedules to the indictment, including Le Creuset and Joseph Joseph kitchen implements, an Alessi teapot and various Molton Brown toiletries, were found inside the vehicle.
The motorhome also still had cellophane on parts of the furniture, including the bed.
Cameron continued: "After its purchase the accused suggested to other party employees that the motorhome could have been used for campaigning purposes but it was not."
When seized by police officers there were no campaign materials or other SNP merchandise inside and the motorhome was not branded.
"It was configured exactly as a motorhome used for pleasure would be," Cameron added.
COPFSAlso among the list of items purchased by Murrell were three guides to "inspirational journeys" to be made in a campervan.
The court was also told about a robotic lawnmower which was purchased by Murrell for £3,070. This was misdescribed as "legal fees" in the SNP's accounting software.
A silver wine coaster worth £3,500 was described as "leadership expenses".
