Outstanding rating for home care service
ReutersA home care provider has been handed an outstanding rating after inspectors said families were seeing their loved ones enjoy a better quality of life.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated Loyal Bee Care, based at Perranwell Station, near Truro, outstanding following its first inspection in April, with top marks for how caring and well-led the service is.
The care agency supports about 40 people in their own homes.
Inspectors heard relatives had said the support had made a real difference, while staff had been praised for going "well beyond" expectations.
Stefan Kallee, CQC deputy director of adult social care for the South West, said inspectors had found "an exceptional service that prioritised safety, dignity, independence, and personalised support".
He explained the feedback from relatives had highlighted how their loved ones had been able to live a better quality of life.
He added: "The caring nature of staff and leaders went well beyond what would be expected.
"One person, who was receiving end of life care, wished to spend their final moments at home but their funding couldn't cover 24-hour care.
"Staff and leaders set up their own volunteer rota covering three weeks so that person wouldn't have to be alone."
He said the service's reputation of excellence extended beyond the inspection and external healthcare professionals had given "glowing feedback".
The staff had been nominated from Cornwall's Proud to Care Awards, he added.
