Police have warned parents that drugs are being hidden in sweet and chocolate packets after a stash was found in a car in Coventry.

Patrolling officers stopped a suspicious vehicle on Northbrook Road on Friday but the driver fled on foot.

A search of the car discovered dozens of packets of what appeared to be confectionary but contained "a small quantity of cannabis".

"Be careful what your children are purchasing," said Bablake Neighbourhood Policing Team, in a weekly update to residents.

West Midlands Police added officers had seized the car, which had no tax and insurance.

The force is still hoping to identify the driver, and asked anyone with information to get in touch.
