Car park to make way for 84 new flats
Elstree LandA plan to demolish a car park that closed earlier this year and replace it with 84 flats has been given the go-ahead.
Slough Borough Council has agreed to sell Hatfield Road car park, which has 581 spaces across six storeys, in April 2025.
Developer Elstree Land lodged plans for its redevelopment in November. The car park shut in March and security fencing has been installed outside.
The council's planning committee approved the proposal unanimously at a meeting on Wednesday.
A previous plan included 102 apartments but that was scaled back.
Daniel Bradbury, Elstree Land's owner, said he was "absolutely delighted" the plans had been approved.
"At a time when there is a fundamental and critical need for more housing nationally, Slough is showing real leadership in supporting sustainable development, regeneration and the delivery of much-needed housing," he added.
