A wildfire involving "numerous" allotments in Stoke-on-Trent has been tackled by emergency crews.

The fire service, which was called to Hanley Road in Sneyd Green at 14:30 BST on Thursday, said a number of allotments were found well alight.

The blaze had also spread to nearby trees, hedges and fences, but nobody was reported injured.

Three appliances were at the scene and the fire was extinguished. An investigation would take place in due course into the cause, the service said.
