Primary school closes after man seen carrying brick
Google MapsA primary school closed early after a man entered its grounds while carrying a brick, police have said.
He was spotted near St Mark's RC Primary School on Queensway in Salford at about 10:00 BST. Staff and pupils were said by Greater Manchester Police (GMP) to be alarmed to see him carrying it.
The 36-year-old, who the force said was "potentially suffering a medical episode", has been arrested on suspicion of breaching a court order and criminal damage after a window was damaged.
No harm was caused to anybody at the school, police said but the leadership team decided to close early for the day and send children home.
GMP said: "Emergency services were called to reports of a concern for welfare
"Officers arrived on scene quickly and gained control of the man, who was taken by ambulance staff to hospital."
