A third man has been arrested after a fatal stabbing on Friday.

Staffordshire Police said a man, 19, from the Newcastle-under-Lyme area, was detained on Saturday on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

Meanwhile, officers said they had been given extra time to question two other men, aged 20 and 22, who were arrested on Friday. All three remained in custody on Saturday night.

Police were called to the incident on Orme Road after 17:00 BST on Friday, by paramedics. A man in his 20s was found with injuries consistent with a stab wound, and later died in hospital.

Police said it followed a crash involving a red Ford Fiesta and grey Audi.

The next of kin of the man who was stabbed had been informed and were being supported by specially-trained officers.

Det Insp Gina Pope said the investigation was moving at pace.

She added that officers were still in the area on Saturday night, carrying out enquiries and to provide reassurance.
