Four homes in an East Yorkshire village have been badly damaged in a fire.

Humberside Fire and Rescue Service sent several crews to Sycamore Crescent, Hutton Cranswick, at 09:42 BST on Wednesday.

The service said the blaze started near a garden fence before spreading to neighbouring properties.

Station manager Mark Chester said there were no injuries.

A total of seven properties were evacuated, he said.

Chester added: "The damage is significant across four properties. It's gone through two roofs. The roof has collapsed in two properties.

"It was extremely challenging, but ultimately it's what our team of firefighters are trained for."
