Man dies three days after being hit by car in Edinburgh

A 49-year-old man has died in hospital three days after he was struck by a car in Edinburgh.

Police Scotland said they were called to Chesser Avenue at about 00:20 on Saturday after reports of a crash involving a blue MG HS.

The man was taken to hospital but on Tuesday police confirmed he had since died. The 35-year-old woman who was driving the MG HS was not injured.

Sgt Fraser Mitchell said: "Our thoughts are with the man's family at this difficult time and inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash."

Police are urging anyone who was in the area at the time to contact them, especially those who may have dash cam footage.
