Former SSPCA office in Lewis to be turned into a house
Peter UrpethA former Scottish SPCA office in Lewis looks set to be turned into a house.
The animal welfare charity announced in March it was withdrawing dedicated resources from the Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland.
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has granted planning consent for a change the use of the office in Stornoway's Leverhulme Drive.
Approval has also been given for an extension to the property.
The Scottish SPCA withdrew services from the islands as part of cost savings.
The animal welfare work is now managed by the charity's north team in Inverness.
