A new pontoon at Pembroke Bay has been welcomed by the island's swimming community.

It has been put in by the Guernsey Sports Commission as part of its Aqua Smart program, helping children with swimming confidence.

There has been discussion about bringing pontoons to other bays in the island.

Local swimmer Marina Burr said she would "love to see them all round the coast" because "anything to enhance the beach would be fantastic".
