Stabbing victim known to suspect, police believe
BBCA man who was fatally stabbed in Redditch knew his alleged attacker, police believe.
Officers were called to Martley Close shortly after 08:30 BST on Tuesday, where the 41-year-old victim was found with a life-threatening injury. He was taken to hospital by paramedics but died a short time later.
A 17-year-old boy from the town has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
Ch Supt Ed Williams, of West Mercia Police, said the force did not believe there was any wider risk to the public.
He said: "We believe the victim and the person who's in custody did know each other. We don't believe that there is a wider risk to the public.
"An incident like this quite rightly will cause shock and anxiety across the community but our officers are out and about reassuring and engaging with local residents and businesses over the next few days."
An anti-crime campaigner, from Redditch, said he was heartbroken by the man's death.
"I felt like I was a failure. I do this every day. The families that we talk to and the witnesses, it's heartbreaking," Peter Martin said.
"Every time one of these things happens it affects hundreds if not thousands of people."
