Man arrested over Cumbernauld death as part of murder inquiry
Police ScotlandA 37-year-old man has been arrested after another man was found dead at a property in Cumbernauld.
John McMonigle, 45, was found dead in the Lanarkshire town's Glenhove Road at about 09:20 on Wednesday.
Officers said he had sustained serious injuries and after a post-mortem examination, his death was being treated as murder.
Police Scotland said inquiries were ongoing.
Det Ch Insp Laura Young, senior investigating officer from the major investigation team, said: "Our thoughts remain with Mr McMonigle's family at what is an extremely difficult time for them.
"They are being supported by specially trained officers and have asked for their privacy to be respected.
"A police presence will remain in the area while our inquiries are ongoing. I would like to thank the local community for their support and patience as our investigation continues."
