Network Rail said services to and from Cambridge were delayed or revised

Rail passengers have faced major disruption in and out of Cambridge after damaged overhead wires led to lines being blocked.

Network Rail said no trains were running between Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, and Cambridge, or onwards to King's Lynn.

It said trains running to and from the city could be cancelled and that there could be delays of up to two hours or services would be revised. It said major disruption was expected until the end of the day.

Network Rail said Greater Anglia, Great Northern and Thameslink services were affected.

Passengers travelling on CrossCountry services from Peterborough through Cambridge were also warned to expect delays.

People were advised to delay their journey if they were travelling to or from Cambridge or to check before they travel.
