Man fined £3,500 for repeatedly playing loud music
Bradford CouncilA man has been fined for a second time in three months for repeatedly playing "bass-heavy music".
Imre Lakatos, 19, was ordered to pay more than £3,500 for failing to adhere to a noise abatement noise - and warned he would be fined another £150 each day if the music continued.
Bradford Magistrates' Court heard Lakatos was previously sentenced in January, after dozens of complaints were lodged about the noise coming from his home in Napier Street, Bradford.
Prosecutor Waseem Raja said the defendant had "completely ignored" the noise warning issued to him earlier this year, with magistrates approving a warrant for the council to seize any speakers or noise-producing equipment.
Friday's hearing was told that when Environmental Health officers visited in May 2025 they could hear music coming from Lakatos' home despite being parked across the road from the property.
The officers then had to knock on the window to get the defendant's attention, with the teenager telling them he could not hear them at the door.
According to Raja, Lakatos told the officers he was merely testing the equipment before he sold it.
Raja told the court complaints about loud music coming from the house had begun in 2023, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
Despite being fined in January, the council received further noise complaints in February and early March.
Lakatos, who did not attend the hearing, was fined £1,500 and ordered to pay council costs of £1,480, as well as a £600 court surcharge.
