Village's scarecrow festival makes a return

More than 30 scarecrows have gone on display in a Lincolnshire village over the bank holiday weekend.

Donington on Bain's Scarecrow Festival, near Louth, has featured a trail of creative displays inspired by superheroes, spiders, bears and Vikings.

Festival organiser Karl Kay said: "[I'm] really pleased with the response we're getting from people on social media and people wandering around the village."

He said the festival played an important part in bringing people together.

"When you live in a village like this that's quite small, little events like this bring people out," he said.

"It's great to see everybody, people networking and chatting and re-establishing friendships, and people you just almost forget about sometimes on the day-to-day."

Last year's event raised more than £450 for a national cancer charity

This year's proceeds are being donated to the village hall
