A pedestrian has died after being struck by a taxi on the A92 on the outskirts of Aberdeen in the early hours of the morning.

Police said the 41-year-old man was bit by a Ford people carrier just north of Murcar, near Blackdog, at about 03:10.

The Scottish Ambulance Service said a special operations team attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact them.

Sgt Lesley Morrison said: "Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died and we're offering them support at this difficult time.

"It's vital we find out exactly what happened and I'm appealing for the public's help."
