Aberdeen were made to sweat for victory at home to second-tier Queen's Park despite having taken an early two-goal lead in their Premier Sports Cup group-stage game at Pittodrie.
The hosts Dan Happe took the lead after only three minutes when defender Dan Happe rose to power in a header from six yards following a corner from fellow summer signing Connor Ronan.
Lewis Smith, the winger bought from Livingston in midweek, fired low into the corner from 12 yards to extend the lead just eight minutes later.
The Championship visitors had been passive in the opening 45 minutes, but they roared back into the game when Jim Hamilton headed in a Louis Longridge corner on the hour mark.
Former Wolfsburg goalkeeper Marius Muller looked shaky at times on his debut but then prevented the Glasgow side equalising with a triple save.
