Joe Hugill delivered the winning moment for 10-man Kilmarnock

Ten-man Kilmarnock needed a 93rd-minute winner from Joe Hugill to secure a narrow Scottish League Cup group win at fourth-tier Elgin City.

Referee Duncan Nicolson showed Jamie Brandon a first-half red card for a foul on Elgin's Lyall Booth, meaning the top-flight club had to play about an hour with a player fewer.

But with Neil McCann's side heading for a second successive goalless draw with lower-league opposition following Tuesday's stalemate against Raith Rovers, Hugill was sent in behind to finish a stoppage-time goal.

The victory means Kilmarnock are second in Group H, one behind behind Raith, who have played a game more.
