Ma France - Email 11 - Football and Flowers & messages

Bonjour !

It’s time to tackle the next units; the subjects are football and flowers, so there’s something for everyone. You’ll hear lots of questions and good wishes and find out about some events in the French calendar, too.

  • Unit 20 Unit 20, Football, features the team Olympique Lyonnais, some of their stars and their supporters. You’ll learn, of course, the key verbs, perdre, to lose and gagner, to win, and learn how to ask questions about football or other sports, with expressions such as Qui va gagner ? Who’s going to win? and Quel est votre joueur préféré ? Which player do you prefer? Whoever you support, you’ll learn how to say what you think of the players: ils sont très forts, they are very good, or ils sont nuls, they are useless.

  • Unit 21 Unit 21, Flowers and messages, follows Marie-Paule, a florist, out making deliveries. From the cards attached to the bouquets and arrangements, you’ll learn how to send good wishes such as Félicitations, Congratulations, Bienvenue, Welcome, and Joyeux anniversaire, Happy birthday. Florists and customers talk about their favourite blooms and the key festivals, such as la Saint Valentin, 14th February, and la Toussaint, 1st November.

  • Next week we'll be back with more tips. We hope you'll find Ma France useful and entertaining.

    Bonne Fête !
