Over the last few units you’ve had a good taste of Lyons, Marseilles and the Alps. In the coming stages we are off back to Lyons to take a look at how things used to be and get a glimpse of a very modern phenomenon. If you're intrigued then, Allons-y, let's get going!

• Unit 18 is called Guided tour, and offers a visit to the Institut Lumière, a rather special museum, le Musée du Cinéma. With clips of some of the first ever moving pictures, you'll learn how to describe how things used to be, e.g. c'étaient des petits films muets, they were short, silent films, ils duraient 55 secondes, they lasted 55 seconds. You'll have practice with dates too, such as mille huit cents quatre-vingt-quinze, 1895.

• In Unit 19, Dating, you'll carry on describing, but here you'll learn expressions to describe your own personality, lifestyle and what you like to do in your free time. You'll hear phrases such as, je suis plutôt énergique et sportive, I’m fairly energetic and sporty, and, je ne regarde pas trop la télé, I don't watch much TV.
