Ma France - Email 7 - House-buying and Walks

Bonjour !

Moving on from renting a gîte, you might be looking to buy a house in France. If that’s unlikely, then you can at least dream. Just tackle the next two units in which you’ll have a guided tour of a house on the market and pick up some tips to help you interpret estate agents’ language. You’ll also find out more about the glorious countryside around Marseilles.

  • Unit 12 In Unit 12, House-buying, you’ll learn vocabulary to describe the house, whether in conversation or in an advert: c’est une petite maison en lotissement, it’s a small house in a development; avec une vue imprenable sur Marseille, with an unbeatable view over Marseilles. You’ll learn some abbreviations too, for example, what is SDB?

  • Unit 13 In Unit 13, Walks, you see some truly unbeatable views of the coastline and learn some of the vocabulary needed to talk about it, for example, C’est magnifique cet endroit ! It’s a magnificent spot. Serge, the guide, explains the French system of signposting footpaths and you’ll also learn from him how to say what you are going to do, such as, on va prendre le sentier, we’re going to take the footpath; on va marcher, we’re going to walk.

  • Get the learning tips for both units "House-buying" and "Walks"

  • Next week we'll be back with more tips. We hope you'll find Ma France useful and entertaining.

    Bonne promenade !
